Description : Annual herbs; culms tufted, branched, 40-60 cm tall; nodes glabrous. Leaves: sheaths 8-9 cm long, subcompressed, glabrous, slipping from the culms; ligule membranous, oblong, 2-2.5 mm long; lower leaves petiolate, acute; lamina flat, lanceolate, 6-10 x 0.5-1.3 cm, narrowed at base, acute at apex, margin scabrid; petiole absent. Racemes 2, appressed to each other and appears solitary; rachis clavate, 4-5 mm long, hispid along the margin; callus short, beared. Seesile spikelet oblong-lanceolate, 5.5-6.5 mm long awned; lower glumes 5.5-5.8 mm long, chartaceous below, membranous above, oblong-lanceolate, with a projection in lower region and two semilunar depression above it, 7-11 nerved; nerves apically distinct, inconspicuous below, often interconnected; keels 2, winged narrowly at apex; margin inflexed from base to apex; apex bi-aristate, glabrous; upper glumes 5.5-6 mm long, firmly membranous, compressed, boat shaped, 2-4 nerved, keeled, apically winged with a tuft of hairs below the wing; acute-aristate at apex; lower lemma hyaline, oblong-lanceolate, 4.8-5 mm long, 3-nerved, muticous; palea hyaline, oblong-lanceolate, 3-3.5 mm long.
