| Description | : | Stem up to 80 cm high, spongy, thickened below. Radical leaves mostly crowded at base of stem, oblong-lanceolate to oblong, 3.2-5.5 x 1-1.7 cm, subacute at apex, cauline ones distant, 0.7-2 x 0.5-0.9 cm; all parallel-nerved. Panicles up to 22.5 cm long. Bracts ovate-oblong, up to 2 x 1 mm, becoming red with age. Pedicels 7-17mm, slender, sparsely glandular-pubescent. Calyx tube 1.5 mm long, minutely and sparsely glandular-hirsute without; lobes oblong, 1.5 x 1 mm. Corolla 10-13 mm long, pale bluish-purple; tube 5 mm long, minutely glandular-hispid without; throat sparsely scabrid; lower lip upto 14 mm across, midlobe broadly obovate, faintly 2-lobed, often with a large white blotch at base. Stamens inserted at top of corolla tube; filaments 1 mm long. Hypogynous disk pale yellow. Style short; lamellae of stigma broadly triangular-rhomboid. Capsule globose, 1.5-4 x 1.5-3 mm, tipped by withered style, glabrous; seeds oblong-cuneiform, 0.6 mm long, longitudinally ribbed, transversely rugose between ribs, blackish-brown. |
