| Description | : | Evergreen trees, 2.5-4.0 m high, bark brown and branches terete and glabrous. Leaves: stipules caducous, 0.5 x 0.4 cm; ovate, glabrous, apex cuspidate; petioles 0.1-0.2 cm long; lamina acute-cordate at base, oblong or elliptic-lanceolate 5.0-11.0 x 2.5-5.7 cm, surfaces rugose, shining, glabrous, lateral-veins 8-15 pairs, prominent abaxially, apex obtuse or sub-acute, margins entire. Flowers: 1.0 cm long, fragrant, numerous, in sub-globose clusters, peduncles 2-3 cm long; pedicels sessile; bracts apical ones oblong-lanceolate, basal ones ovate, acuminate; bracteoles subulate; calyx pubescent, ovoid-oblong; teeth 4, minute, triangular, sub-acute; corolla 0.5 cm long, tube glabrous, lobes 4, oblong, obtuse, deflexed; stamens 4, inserted at the mouth of the tube; anthers almost sessile, bases tailed, apex acute; style slender; stigmatic branches 2, elliptic, spreading. Fruits: glabrous, red(brownish-black in sicci). Flowers and fruits appears during January-April. |
